Stilling of the storm
Sunday 23rd St Hughs intercessions.
Let us pray
and in your compassion
direct your love
and us
to transform,
make whole
and redeem your creation.
Lord in your mercy
hear our prayers
It’s all bit of a mess.
Fighting still in Ukraine, Sudan and Gaza
we forget Yeman and Myanmar
yet we know You don’t.
So we pray,
that humanity will find a way
of reflecting your concern
to show mercy
and create peace with justice
and that we might learn afresh
how to live in harmony.
Lord in your mercy
hear our prayers
Its all a bit confusing for many
promises are being made
claims that they have the answers
when we know
actions of many leaders
have created an even more
unequal society
here, and around the world.
So we pray,
may those to be elected
do so from a place of integrity,
and go on to make decisions
guided by your wisdom,
so that
no child lives in poverty
no one needs to live on the street
good health care is once again
the provision for all.
Help us to make true community
that is a sign of your Kingdom.
Lord in your mercy
hear our prayers
The earth is changing
crazy weather
hotter
colder
drier
wetter
crops are failing
eco systems crumbling.
We know why
it’s just we don’t want to change.
So we pray creator
help humanity align
with your desire
to redeem all of creation.
May we learn to
pollute less
consume less
conserve more
and so save the earth
from our foolishness.
Lord in your mercy
hear our prayers
Lord Jesus you
traversed your way
through a world of chaos.
Your disciples often were afraid
as are we.
So we pray that
in all the situations of our lives
you would speak your word
‘Be Still’
and we might know Your Peace.
and so we pray together
Creator God,
who brought order out of chaos.
Bring your order to our lives.
Jesus Christ,
with whom we voyage,
and who stilled the storm.
Bring calm into those parts of our living
when sorrow and anxiety would overwhelm us.
Holy Spirit,
Dwell within us,
and be the still small voice of calm.
Amen.
